When we were in elementary school, we used to always walk to Grandma’s house after the final bell rang. My mom was working by then and Grandma only lived about a block from the school.
By that time, she had retired and spent a lot of her time doing what she loved the most…cooking. That was especially true when she knew we were coming over. There was nothing better after a long day of school than walking into her house to the smell of a fresh baked cake or cookies.
My favorite was always anything with apple in it. The fresh smell of cooked apples is one that just can’t be duplicated. I remember when she made us this apple cinnamon cream cheese cake one day.
It was so moist and delicious, and the cream cheese really was the icing on the cake! I recently came across a very similar recipe on Recipe Lion. I just had to try it out for myself. It was just as good as I remembered.
I made it one afternoon before my kids came home from school. I was so happy to be able to share the experience of walking into a house that smelled like fresh baked goodness.
Everyone deserves to enjoy that at least once in their life. There’s nothing like fresh baked apples and cinnamon!
