Sleep On In Southern Breakfast Bake

If you want to get started on the cooking process before you go to bed, you can assemble this the same way in a slow cooker and set it to the very lowest setting. It only needs to cook about eight hours this way and tastes just as good. Make sure to spray or line the pan for an easier clean up though! Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Recipe Lion:

“Southern Overnight Breakfast Bake is a delicious make-ahead breakfast casserole made with eggs, bread, sausage, cheese and more.”

You can top this off with sour cream, salsa, or my kid’s favorite…ketchup. It’s a versatile dish that you can make to fit your individual tastes.

Ingredients

8 eggs, slightly beaten
6 slices bread, cubed (I used whole wheat)
1 lb Johnsonville sausage, cooked & crumbled
2 cups milk (2%)
1 cup Kraft sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard (or 1 tbsp of prepared mustard)

Instructions

Mix together. Put in a 9 x 13 greased pan and refrigerate at least 12 hours. Bake 35 minutes at 350.
