Mennonite Church Window Cookies – A Christmas Tradition

These Mennonite church Windows aren’t too difficult to make and they look super pretty on your holiday table. I like to add some coconut flakes around the edges of the windows for some added texture. I think the coconut flakes give the appeal of a snowy window pane. If you don’t care for flaked coconut don’t sweat it. You don’t have to use the stuff if you don’t want to.

There is a little Amish store up the road from my house and they always have an abundance of Christmas cookies, fudges, and other treats just like these yummy Church Windows.

Ingredients

1 stick of oleo

12 oz. Toll House chocolate chips

5 oz. Jet-Puffed colored miniature marshmallows

1 c. nut meats

1 c. coconut (optional)

Instructions

Melt oleo and chips until creamy. Fold in marshmallows.

Spread nut meats (and coconut, if you choose) on wax paper. Cover with the marshmallow-chocolate mixture. Roll up like a jelly roll. Refrigerate until solid. Slice and serve.
