Chunky Apple Blondies Embraced By Cinnamon And Spice

We used to travel nearly across the country to go see my Aunt Betty.

She was the sweetest woman. She had about thirteen cats and an impeccable flair for baking. Whenever we would arrive after a couple of days on the road, she would always greet us with a nice plate of apple brownies. My mom tried for years to get her recipe, but she would never share the secret with her. When I was looking around the internet one day, I found this recipe on Facebook. I could barely believe my eyes.

I had to go out and buy the ingredients that I didn’t already have that very instant and try these for myself. They were exactly how I remembered them. That first batch was quickly consumed by my family, so I whipped up another batch and drove them over to my mom’s house.

I think I saw a tear fall down her cheek after she tried them. It wasn’t that they were bad, it was that they reminded her of her beloved Aunt Betty!
