My friend from college was coming back to our hometown for a visit for the holidays.
I really wanted to be able to see her and her new husband. Of course, not really thinking, I invited them over for dinner. When she accepted, I wished I would have suggested a restaurant. Not that I didn’t want them at my house, it was just that I knew she had married up from us.
She found herself a successful man with a lot of money. How was I going to impress them with my home style cooking? Thankfully, I remembered this recipe for Italian style tuna patties that I had seen.
I figured it was probably going to be my best shot. They really turned out looking very fancy, and both of my guests gobbled it right up. I gave my husband the huge look of relief and he just squeezed my hand under the table.
I should have known better. If he loved my friend, of course he was going to like me, regardless of what I cooked like. My girlfriend actually asked me for the recipe before she left, because they both loved them so much!
