Traditional Sharp Cheddar Cheeseball Encrusted With Pecans

It isn’t Christmas dinner without a cheeseball on the table.

I can remember always having big family dinners over the holidays. My mother always insisted that Thanksgiving and Christmas be hosted at our house. I don’t think anyone complained because mom was an amazing cook. She would set out stuff like nuts, cheeseballs and crackers, and relish platters for folks to munch on before the big dinner was served. I remember her having platefuls of Christmas cookies on every table.

Going back to those cheeseballs…these were my favorite! She always made a few different varieties. One time, mom made a wine cheeseball and my sisters and I kept eating it pretending that we were “getting drunk.” LOL silly girls!

Mom would put her best silver pate knives out with the cheeseball and Chicken in a Biscuit crackers. Those crackers were so tasty! Everyone would scoop at the cheeseball while they chatted with other family members and friends. it was such a good time. What are some of your fond holiday memories concerning food?

Quick Tip: Roll your cheeseball in crushed nuts or dried fruit. This not only tastes good but gives the appetizer a beautiful presentation.
