This Shepherd’s Pie Comes With A Marvelous Surprise!

Since I grew up in a Cuban household, we always ate Cuban food.  Going out was a special occasion because we would NOT get Cuban food. Hahaha. It was always fun when we would go out, but we still really loved our homemade Cuban goodness.  It made lunchtime fun every single day and it made us crave more and more deliciously flavored foods.

Well, after I got married I vowed to try making new foods that I did not grow up on.  I knew there was so much out there I had not tried. One of those things was Shepherd’s Pie.

My husband was one day describing that dish to me when I realized I had never had that, but it sounded absolutely delicious.  I did not know where I could get it at a restaurant, so I decided to try it at home.  I followed a Pinterest recipe and although good, it was not amazing.

It was actually just a tad dry and flavorless. Well, instead of giving up on the recipe, I decided to try it again with a twist.  Instead of making American style ground beef, I made my old Cuban recipe and it made the dish something else. Oh man, it was good!
