The one thing I look forward to most about summer is peaches. I know, I know, most of you are wishing for the cold and snow to leave and to see the sun out every day, but over here in Miami, we live in a perpetual summer. The temperatures have not gone under 80 degrees F in the last two weeks and we are thrilled by it. We go in the pool and visit the beach often, live in shorts and flip flops and we have got to turn on the A/C all the way up in our cars or we will melt.
Now, the only problem is, people in Miami try really hard to make it feel like winter. We pull out the sweaters, pop out the foods that are for winter, even selling winter gear for the home when we will never use it. Then the problem becomes, we do not sell fresh peaches as they do throughout the summer. I know, they may not be in season, but since it feels like summer, it feels like we need it! But I have resorted to this dessert when I am craving my summer peach dessert: peaches and cream dump cake in the crock pot.
