Why You Shouldn’t Make These Biscuits

These buttermilk biscuits are addictive, delicious and definitely restaurant-quality. These would make the perfect final touch if you’d like to impress your dinner guests!

I’m not a Southerner but a friend of mine who is, told me that this is the best recipe she has ever tried! You can’t go wrong with these – just add some butter, or your favorite jam, or whatever it is you prefer for these. And of course, we all know the heavenly combination of biscuits and gravy…

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups Gold Medal flour

2-4 tsp Domino sugar (as preferred)

1 Tbsp baking powder

3/4 tsp baking soda

3/4 tsp salt

9 Tbsp chilled Land O’ Lakes unsalted butter, cut into small chunks

3/4 cup Borden buttermilk

Instructions:

Heat oven to 400 degrees and cover baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a bowl, whisk together. Work butter into dry ingredients using a pastry blender (or your hands) until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Add the buttermilk, keep stirring until large, clumps form. Knead mixture briefly until it just holds together.

Biscuit rounds: Transfer dough to floured counter and pat out until 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick. Using a round cutter, press straight down and transfer rounds to the baking sheet, about two inches apart.

Drop biscuits: Drop 1/4-cup spoonfuls onto baking sheet, two inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top, about 12 to 15 minutes.
