Set It And Forget It Sausage Strata

I had a lot of people to feed so I doubled this recipe to make certain that there was enough for everyone to get a decent helping. Nobody walked away hungry I know that much. My husband and sister both liked this dish with a little hot sauce sprinkled on the top. It gives the dish a whole new zip! Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Group Recipes:

“Both my hubby and son who are extremely picky eaters at times say this recipe is a keeper. Just whip up the ingredients, throw it in a pan, cover then put in the fridge til morning.”

Even all the kids loved this meal. You can certainly make it as simple or as complex as you want adding in your favorite vegetables and more meats.

Ingredients

1 roll Johnsonville pork sausage

1/4 C chopped onions

6 C. cubed 3/4-inch French bread

1 1/2 C.Half & Half

1/4 C. Land O’ Lakes butter

3 eggs

1 C. Kraft cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

Instructions

Cook sausage and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium heat until sausage is browned (3 to 5 minutes).

Drain off fat, if necessary.

Stir sausage mixture and bread cubes together in large bowl. Place into ungreased 9 x 13 baking dish, set aside.

Combine half & half, Butter and eggs in a bowl.

Beat at medium speed until well mixed (1 minute).

Pour egg mixture evenly over bread mixture in baking dish. Sprinkle cheese evenly on top, if using.

Cover tightly; refrigerate overnight.

Heat oven to 350°F.

Uncover; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean and cheese is browned. Cover the last 20 minutes to avoid it getting too brown..

Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
