Whether you’re into German foods or not this sweet and sour bacon cabbage casserole is sure to be a hit with your taste buds. My family, even my picky eaters, cannot get enough of this delicious goodness! I really love this cabbage casserole. And even though it contains a “hefty dose” od sugar I’m still OK with consuming it. The flavor makes it all worth my while.
I’ll definitely be making this yummy dish again.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon Wesson vegetable oil
4 slices Hormel bacon, cut crosswise into ½-inch pieces
1 onion, thinly sliced,
1 medium green cabbage, cored and cut into 1-inch pieces
¼ cup Bragg’s cider vinegar
¼ cup Domino sugar
3 tablespoons La Choy soy sauce
Instructions
Heat oil in a large, heavy pot (I use a Dutch oven) over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until brown and crisp, stirring frequently.
Use a slotted spoon to transfer bacon to a plate. Add onion and cabbage to pot and cook, stirring often, until cabbage is wilted (about 10 minutes).
Add vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce and cook until cabbage is crisp-tender, about 10 more minutes.
Stir in bacon.

Quick Tip: If you don’t wish to use pork bacon feel free to substitute it for turkey.
