Rip Roarin’ Red Beans And Rice Straight From The Bayou!

The other night, my youngest son and I were watching the latest episode of Duck Dynasty.

He absolutely loves Uncle Si and Willy. They are his favorite cast members on the show, which, I have to admit, they are pretty funny. The show takes place in Louisiana so we often get to see all types of southern foods being cooked and they look delicious! On this episode, in particular, Miss Kay, who is Willy’s mother, was making red beans and rice.

I swear, my son and I could almost smell the dish cooking through the TV. My little guy looked at me and said, “Mama, can you make red beans and rice so we can eat like Uncle Si and Willy?” I wanted to say yes but since I’m a northerner I wasn’t sure I could pull this very creole treat off lol!

However, I sucked it up and found a fantastic recipe that was quite simplified and made the kid his red beans and rice. He has a teacup that matches Uncle Si’s so he used that to drink his version of sweet tea (tea with maple syrup) as he enjoyed his red beans and rice meal.

Quick Tip: This recipe goes great with cornbread and sauteed mustard greens. Yum!

Awe this melted my heart reading it! I am
Souther lol, am from Mississippi but now live in Louisiana, you do not have to live in the south to make an awesome southern dish!! I al sure your little guy loved it you are an awesome mommy!!

I have a QUICK and EASY version that is absolutely amazing if you would like to try it!! Just email me and I would love to share with you

I’m as deep into Acadiana as you can get and except for the Old Bay, (we would use any one of a dozen or more of the cajun/Creole seasonings available), it is a classic RB&R recipe. RB&R shouldn’t be complicated.
