This Recipe Is The Closest Thing To Authentic New Jersey Deli Bagels!

I’m going to be honest and tell you I’ve never been to New Jersey. So I’ve never had a chance to taste an authentic New Jersey deli bagel. But my husband lived there for a couple of years and he can’t stop talking about them. Apparently there was “the best deli in town” right next to his apartment so he picked up bagels for breakfast almost every day. From what I hear, they are beyond words and out of this world!

Over the years I’ve tried to bring him bagels from our local deli. I have tried at least three different recipes to make them myself, but none of these have gotten even close to the original ones, I can tell.

He always says; “These are really good” because he knows that I’m trying to make him happy and he doesn’t want to hurt my feelings. But I can see it in his eyes that the flavor isn’t quite what it used to be in New Jersey. And boy, is it difficult to try and recreate something you haven’t tasted yourself!
