If you’re looking for something a bit different than what you are used to might I suggest you give these open-faced apple, cheese, and turkey sandwiches a shot? They are sweet and savory and totally hit the spot. I’m usually famished by the time lunch comes crawling around and I need a meal like this to stick to my ribs. The sandwiches are very easy to make and don’t take much time under the broiler at all.
Check out what my pals over at Penny Pinching Provisions had to say about this recipe:
For lunch today, we didn’t have leftovers. I have seen a lot of recipes using apples and cheese, so I thought I’d try my hand at that. I was concerned that I wouldn’t like the sweet and savory together, but I really did. In fact, I liked it even more than I had hoped. I plan to make this again! The dijon mustard and muenster were the perfect compliment to the sweetness of the apples.
My kids and I really liked these sandwiches, too. Who knew cheese and apples go so well together?
Ingredients
1 slice whole wheat bread

black pepper
