5 delicious vintage recipes buttermilk pie

I will be the first one to tell you that I am not much of a baker. No matter what I do, the desserts I try to create never come out the way they are intended to.

This old-fashioned buttermilk pie is so easy to put together, it’s nearly impossible to mess it up. If I can do it…anyone can! Ever since I made this the first time at home, my family asks for it all the time. It’s so simple, I don’t mind baking it up for them!

Ingredients

3 Eggland’s eggs, room temperature

½ cup Land O’ Lakes butter, softened

1½ cups Domino white sugar

3 Tbsp Gold Medal all-purpose flour

1 cup Borden buttermilk

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

¼ tsp freshly grated nutmeg

1 (9 inch) Pillsbury unbaked pie crust (or homemade)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F .

Line a 9″ pie plate with a single pie crust.

Beat eggs until foamy. Beat in butter, flour and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add all the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.

Pour into prepared pie crust and bake for 45-55 minutes until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
