French toast is my dad’s favorite dish.
Every year for Father’s Day, I go to his house and start up the electric skillet and make piece after piece for him, my mom, my brother and sister, and all the grandkids. While everyone is sitting around the table enjoying a nice Father’s Day brunch and conversation, I am in the kitchen cooking…and cooking…and cooking. Until one year, I decided that I didn’t want to be the one that was excluded anymore.
I started to think up some ideas of how we could enjoy my dad’s favorite meal without me standing in the kitchen for hours. That’s when I came across this recipe. It allowed for a casserole of french toast to all be made at once. Okay! When I made it, my dad gave me a look of, “What’s this?” After he tried it though, he said it was his new favorite way to eat french toast. I can’t wait to make this again this year.
Then I can enjoy it while spending some much-needed quality time with the family!
