Hot, Molten Chocolate Lingering Inside Moist Cake – Fudgy Lava Dessert

My father in law is a master chef.  He cooks better than any person I know, even my grandma.

And that is saying something because my grandma is also an amazing cook.  But what sets them apart is that my grandma is amazing at what she does, but only at those great recipes.  However, my father in law is not shy at all when it comes to trying new recipes.  It can be Chinese, Cuban, or Colombian, anything at all. He is always ready to give it a try.

When we moved in to our first apartment, we invited him over for dinner.  I made the dinner, but he wanted to make dessert.  So after we enjoyed a wonderful meal and then gave him and the family a house tour, we came back downstairs where he prepared his family famous molten lava cakes.  These are little cakes full of chocolatey melted goodness that just oozes out with every push of your spoon.

To make it even better, he drizzled it with condensed milk and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.  It was the perfect sweet ending to a wonderful evening.  Since then, I have been dying to learn how to make them and he finally shared the recipe with me.
