Hemp Heart Porridge – It’s Uniquely Terrific!

Ever hear of making oatmeal without oats? Well, folks, you’re about, too!

I’ll admit, I am a sucker for sugary sweets and pancake breakfasts just like the next gal. However, I needed to make some changes in my life and this included how many grams of carbs I was eating per day. Did you know that sugar causes a great deal of inflammation within the body? Maybe you have a bloated belly and no matter what you do to fix it you still have a kangaroo pouch. Nix the sugar, guys and gals!

The recipe on the next page is for hemp heart porridge. It makes a wonderful substitute for oatmeal and it tastes like heaven.

Quick Tip: I make my own vanilla using Madagascar vanilla beans and grain alcohol in a jar. I use it in this recipe. Delish!

What is bad for you is not the rice and oats, but the xylitol and Stevia that is in this recipe. Chances are if you raised your own non-gmo veggies and ate fresh, organic meats, your health problems would go away. It is all the chemicals and genetically modified foods that we put in our bodies that are killing us, not the naturally-occurring carbs in the rice and oats.

Not true at all, Lee. Stevia is an herb and when sourced correctly and not mixed with fillers (try the Stevita Brand) it is an excellent sweetener with many health benefits. Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol found in most plant material, including many fruits and vegetables. It has amazing oral health benefits. Rice and oatmeal contain carbohydrates and carbohydrates turn to sugar. Your body cannot tell whether they are “naturally occurring” or not, therefore, rice and oats impact your glycemic index, astronomically, which is why diabetics are advised to stay away from grains and starches. There is nothing unnatural about this hemp heart porridge 🙂
