Fresh From The Ocean Maryland Crab Cakes

My mother-in-law came to visit us not that long ago in Wisconsin. I had to make her my crab cakes, even though I was nervous she wouldn’t approve. She like the ones that I made…thank goodness! Of course they will never be as good as hers because, well she’s from Maryland, and she’s the mom, but I’m glad I didn’t disappoint her! Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at All Recipes:

“I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, so if anyone knows a good crab cake, it’s me. And this recipe will make you one FINE crab cake!”

Other than taking a trip to the state yourself, this is the closest you’re going to get to Maryland crab cake!

Ingredients

1 pound crabmeat, shredded

1 1/2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs

2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley

salt and pepper to taste

1 egg

1 1/2 tablespoons Hellmann’s mayonnaise

1/2 teaspoon ground dry mustard

1 dash Frank’s Red hot pepper sauce

Instructions

Preheat oven broiler.

Mix together crab meat, bread crumbs, parsley, salt and pepper.

Beat together egg, mayonnaise, hot sauce and mustard. Combine with other ingredients and mix well. Form into patties and place on a lightly greased broiler pan or baking sheet.

Broil for 10 to 15 minutes, until lightly brown.

I agree…That would have been a lot easier. I guess you didn’t want her to know that you didn’t have a good recipe like hers. I’m sure she was impressed when you asked her for the recipe. She would be pleased to have you prepare a meal for her son with one of your recipes. 🙂

No franks sauce, please!!
Add a frothed up egg white to the mix to keep it lighter.
And yes I am from Maryland, born and bred.
