Dates can’t always turn out a great success, but hey – that’s life, right? Have you ever been on a date that was a complete disaster? Or perhaps your blind date was a perfect one and you’re now happily married with children?
Whatever the case, this rice pudding never disappoints. I bet if you’d invite your date over to your place and serve him/her this pudding, they’d want to marry you right away! Which wouldn’t be a bad decision at all, if you ask me. If you’ve been lucky enough to find a spouse that can cook, you’ve got yourself a real treasure.
Ingredients
3⁄4 cup Uncle Ben’s medium grain rice or 3⁄4 cup long grain rice
1 1⁄2 cups water
1⁄4 tsp salt
4 cups McArthur whole milk (I use 2%)
1⁄2 cup Domino sugar
1⁄2 tsp vanilla
cinnamon
Instructions:
Bring rice, water and salt to a boil over med-high heat.
Simmer covered until water has been absorbed (approximately 15 minutes).
Stir in milk and sugar and cook uncovered over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently–especially towards the end of cooking.
The pudding is done when the rice and milk have amalgamated into a thick porridge-like consistency.
Do not overcook or the pudding will be solid instead of creamy once cooled.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Turn into a bowl or cups.
You can sprinkle cinnamon on the top if you like.
Cover with plastic wrap directly on surface if you don’t want a skin.
Cool.

Quick tip: You could try using coconut milk instead of regular milk!
can you please tell me the name of this?
It’s rice pudding.
stove top I have always added milk in at beginning, long grain riice a pinch of salt, cook about 45 min or until rice is fluffy and water absorbed and abouta minut before removing add nutmeg, vanilla and sugar according to taste. works great. cooking time is dependent on type of rice, I use brown rice for the nutty flavour natural type and takes some longer.
