This Coconut-Banana Pie Is My Go-To Dessert For Every Family Gathering!

My family is huge.  Ever since I was a little girl, I remember going to family gatherings and asking my mom if this was a church event.  There were just so many people and lots of them that I did not  know so I always thought it was some sort of church function.

I was shy and stayed away but by the end of the night, I was running around with my second cousins, playing in the pool with my uncle and sneaking cooking from my great aunt’s kitchen. It was always a blast.

When I grew up and got married, I knew I wanted something similar for my kids.  I did not want them to only know their aunts and uncles, but more than that.  I wanted them to know their extended family, not just as family but as friends.

So while our kids were young, my husband and I took our kids to their first big family event.  Everything was going fine and dandy until I found like Dave behind the couch with Great Aunt Sally’s Coconut Banana Pie, just digging in with his hands.  Uh oh.  I was not sure whether to laugh or cry, but he just turned around and said “I’m sorryyyy mama, it looked so good… and it was!”
