What Do Chocolate Chips And Applesauce Have In Common? Cake!

You’ll get a fine sampling of what an awesome applesauce cake tastes like with this recipe. Plus, you’ll get your daily dose of chocolate and we all need that in our lives LOL! This cake is very easy to make and is perfect for taking to parties and get-togethers. I enjoy taking this dessert to church potlucks as everyone typically gobbles it up like crazy. You can’t go wrong with this cake, folks!

 

The texture of this cake is life changing. Wow!

 

Ingredients

1⁄2cup Wesson oil

1 1⁄2cups Domino sugar

2 Eggland’s Best eggs, beaten

2cups Gold Medal flour

1⁄2teaspoon McCormick cinnamon

1⁄2teaspoon Morton salt

2cups applesauce

1 1⁄2teaspoons baking soda

4tablespoons cocoa

1 1⁄2teaspoons sugar

1⁄2cup nuts, chopped

3⁄4cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Grease and flour a 13x 9″ baking pan.

In large mixing bowl, mix oil and 1 1/2 c sugar.

Add beaten eggs, flour (no need to sift), cinnamon, salt, applesauce, baking soda and cocoa and mix until well-blended.

Pour into pan and sprinkle with 1 1/2 T sugar, nuts (chopped walnuts or pecans) and 3/4 C chocolate chips.

Bake at 350 dg. for 30-40 mins, until top springs back when touched, covering with foil if top gets too brown.

Moist and delicious!
