Cheddar Biscuits Better Than The Original

These biscuits taste the best when they are served fresh and hot out of the oven. If you have a small family though, or if you’re on your own, you probably aren’t going to be able to eat ten biscuits all at once. You can toss them in the fridge and pull them out and microwave them as needed without losing any flavor. If it’s going to be a while before you enjoy them, they also hold well in the freezer. Just let them thaw out on their own before microwaving to prevent them from getting soggy. Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Recipe Lion:

Whenever you are making something that calls for bread sticks or garlic bread, substitute these in instead. It’s a nice change from what you are used to getting.

 

Ingredients

2 cups Gold Medal all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

6 tablespoons Land O’ Lakes cold butter cut into 1-inch cubes

1 cup shredded Kraft Cheddar cheese

3/4 cup buttermilk

For the Topping:

3 tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon dry parsley flakes

1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

 

 

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl of an electric mixer, combine flour, baking powder and garlic salt and whisk to mix completely. With the machine running on medium low, add the cubed butter, one piece at a time until the mixture resembles granola.

Add the cheese and mix for 1 minute until the mixture is coated with flour. With the mixer running on low, add the buttermilk and mix 1 minute just until the liquid is absorbed do not over mix at this stage.

Use a -cup ice cream scoop to make mounds of the dough on the bake sheet, placing them 2 inches apart. Bake immediately for about 15 minutes the biscuits will be golden brown when done.

While biscuits bake, place butter, parsley and garlic salt into the microwave for 40 seconds until butter melts. When the biscuits come out of the oven immediately brush them with the butter and herb mixture. Serve while warm
