How To Become The Most Popular Person At Your Next Potluck

Don’t you love hearing love stories from your family and friends? If you ask me, I do. I mean I don’t like to hear all the cheesy details most especially if it involves the love story of my parents, but I love hearing the “how I met him” or “how I met her” stories. Since most of my friends have been in love with food first before they met their other halves, their love stories always begin with food.

Since this recipe that I will be sharing with you is a recipe for a creamy baked potato salad, Denny’s love story is the most appropriate introduction. Denny used to go to this certain hang out hub near their place when she was a teenager. It was a commercial center strip that has a lot of small restaurants on it.

Denny’s favorite was this family owned restaurant that served homemade food. Her favorite was the baked potato salad that’s so creamy and so cheesy that she didn’t want to leave after tasting it first. She has been a patron of said restaurant for years.

When she found out that it was the son who was making the baked potato salad, Denny decided she wanted to marry him. Well, she was able to. In fact, they’re expecting their first baby in a couple of months. To think it all started with her love for the baked potato salad!

I have used hashbrowns and it is not as good. In fact, I boil 7 large brown potatoes and when cooked , I shred them. I use sour cream and a can of cream of chicken soup in my recipe, it is the best. Oh yeah lots of shredded cheddar cheese and green onions.

Depends on what you and your family like. They both work. Miracle whip just has more of a sweet flavor because of its sugar content

helliman’s mayonaisse. A friend who did not like potato salad (made with Miracle whip) loved my basic potato salad made with Hellman’s. And I use white pepper.

I use Marzetti’s Blue Cheese Dressing, not Mayonnaise. I sprinkle a little Blue Cheese Crumbles on top with the bacon, cheese & green onion too. Delicioso!

looks like hash brown casserole my daughter makes and it always disappearing fast at our family meals do she started doubleing the recipe but still disappears

It would be more helpful to state how many POUNDS of potatoes are needed for this recipe. Since potatoes are varied in size, “8 potatoes” really tells us nothing.

I Like the cauliflower idea. With all that cheese I would add another couple of veggies
& serve with a relish tray; that has pickled beets pickled okra celery black olives.

I saw a recipe very similar to this one earlier today….about the only thing different was the size of the potatoes I’m a potato salad nut. This sounds soooo good…….for the past few years I’ve been experimenting with the other veggies, and really like them. I’m going to try this soon.

Do you have a printer, Donna? If so, then you most definitely can print our recipes by highlighting the portion of the recipe you’d like to print.

You sure don`t make it easy to print plus there is no name for the recipe and has a blue million advertizing in between which credits wasteful spaces in between print, why can`t you put a small area at bottom with title and recipe and a print area?

Good grief, just call it what you want….be creative and stop complaining. At least she gave you a FREE receipe. Now, say, “thank you”, and scroll on..
Good day and Merry Christmas!

This sounds delicious. I will be making it and I’m positive there won’t be any left.

Thank you so much for sharing. I’m a cook and I had no problems figuring out the recipe.

Be blessed

I have been making the same recipe since my MIL taught me years ago. Easy peasy, 1 lg bag of frozen hash browns ( defrosted cooks up nicer ) recently found some hash browns made with mash potatoes, have even used tater tots cut into smaller pieces. 2 cans cream of chicken soup, 1 bunch of green onions, white and green cut ( my daughter uses 1 can of mild green chilis ) 1 stick of butter melted, 8 oz. sour cream, 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese ( I use mild, daughter uses sharp ) mix all together, save some cheese to put on top.Pour into casserole dish, (at this point my daughter adds cooked shredded chicken, friends have also used sausage links, ham, whatever they have ) Cook at 350 for 45 mins, if potatoes are frozen, cook longer. yum. always a pot luck favorite at work!

Just wondering if this could be put together the night before and baked the next day?
Sounds so good! I know it’s going to be a hit when I make it for the next church luncheon! 🙂
