Banana Chocolate Turnovers Are Like The Comforting Embrace Of A Friend

Whenever one of us is feeling quite out of sorts, there’s only one comfort that we always acceptanything sinful, delicious and as chocolatey as possible. Jen was feeling out of sorts lately because one, she misses her husband and two, her son is with his grandparents for a week. She feels lonely because she has never spent so much time alone since she got married.

Even when her husband isn’t around most of the time, at least her son’s there. But for the first time, they’re both out of her reach. So what we did was to gather all of our friends and we made a batch of different desserts for her.

I made cake donuts. Another one made a pie. Another one made a chocolate cake. And another one made banana chocolate turnovers.

When we arrived at her house, she welcomed us with open arms and immediately brewed us tea when she saw what we were holding. We had an afternoon of quiet bonding and well, an afternoon of her blurting out her loneliness. She was so lonely she ate all of the chocolate turnovers.

I know, chocolate truly soothes our aching hearts. This recipe over at Barbara bakes reminds me of that afternoon when Jen was able to devour and entire tray of turnovers.
