Apple-Topped Cream Cheese Coffee Cake – It’s A Pretty Big Deal

The first time my Great Aunt Sally asked me if I wanted to try the coffee cake, I thought she was out of her mind.

I was only nine for crying out loud. Why would I want a cake with coffee in it? Well, after the laughter subsided, the relatives I had sitting around the table enjoying the pan of dessert in front of them talked me into just a nibble. Oh my gosh…it was so good! I fell in love with the stuff.

It wasn’t a dessert that surfaced too much around home. It was only on special occasions that I would get to devour a helping…or maybe two. Now that I have my own kitchen, I decided I should try it out for myself.

I found this recipe on the Recipe Girl blog and… holy smokes! Apple pie flavor mixed in with the coffee cake was like my own little slice of heaven. I contemplated on hiding it from the rest of the family it was so good.

Of course, I didn’t actually do that, I had to show off what I made! Everyone loved it and it was gone in a hurry. Now, I make this regularly for weekend breakfasts and parties. Yummy, yummy, yum!
