Nothing takes me back to my childhood more than the smell of apples cooking. My mother and grandmother both used to love to cook with apples. They still do from time to time, I’m just not there anymore to enjoy the warming aromas. Now it is up to me to recreate that same experience for my kids. When I came across this recipe on Recipe Lion, I knew it would work fantastically with my schedule.
I still have to work full-time, so a dessert after dinner is usually a candy bar or maybe a scoop of ice cream if I remembered to pick it up from the grocery store that week. This I could toss in the crock pot before leaving and it would do the work for me.
When we got home that day the house smelled the best it has since we first moved in and the paint was fresh. My family and I couldn’t wait to finish dinner so that we could try this. It was just as good as it smelled!
We ate it with the ice cream that I did remember to pick up that week and it was incredible. We have this pretty regularly now and it’s always a favorite.
