When I went to visit my sister in Oklahoma, I was so excited I don’t think that I slept for a week in anticipation of going to see her.
It had been a few months, and talking on the phone isn’t the same as that face-to-face contact. In order to pass some of the time, we would spend hours on the telephone talking about what we were going to do while me and the family were there, including some of the recipes that she wanted to share with me.
My sister has always been an amazing cook. I’m not sure how she got so lucky, but she did. When she talked about this sausage bake that she had seen, I think I was even more excited about going. It sounded amazing, and I knew my husband would love it.
When the day finally came that we met in person again, after we stopped hugging and crying, we sat down and enjoyed this hearty meal. Between the four adults at the table, we cleared this pan right out. It was a good thing we had pizza on reserve for the kids, or they would have gone hungry!
