Twas a midweek evening, and all through the house, it was quiet…and mom was relaxing.
That was, until a sleepy-eyed little boy popped his head out of his bedroom around 11:00 pm and said…”Oh, I forgot to tell you, I have to bring in snack tomorrow.” What!?! Of course he would wait until I’m almost ready to call it a night to tell me we are the family that has to feed the 25 hungry kids in his classroom tomorrow..why not? Well, after shooting him the mom look and responding with..”okay sweetie.” I reluctantly drug myself to the computer and started looking for recipes. There was no way I had time to hit the store in the morning and we had nothing in the house.
That’s when I found this life-saving recipe. My prayers had been answered! I tossed this together and whipped it up in just a few minutes. I didn’t know how it was going to turn out and by the time it was done, I really didn’t care. Chocolate and cereal, how could you go wrong with fifth graders? I dropped my forgetful boy off to school and hoped for the best.
When he got home that night he reported that everyone loved his cereal bars. Yes buddy, your cereal bars, you did a great job… Either way, I’m thankful I found this and will be using it again for those last minute snack days I’m sure!
