Going home for the holidays, even as an adult, is an exciting time for me. I love my hometown. The way that everyone knows everyone. You can’t go to the service station without seeing someone that you grew up with, or their parents. It has its downfalls though too. You can’t go to the service past nine o’clock at night. The place closes up tighter than a drum. It’s not like the city where I can go shopping 24 hours a day if I so choose.
Without a doubt, my favorite thing about going home, is seeing my family, and having some of my mom’s cooking. It was one thing I didn’t appreciate until after I moved out on my own. Now that I don’t have it every day, I miss it dearly.
The last time I went home, she made a nice big pot roast. I was expecting the usual mashed potatoes, but instead she pulled out these French onion baked potatoes that she found on Julie’s Eats & Treats. Boy oh boy! Amazing is all I can say…delicious.
