I am from Miami, Florida and absolutely love it here. I was born in the freezing cold of Canton, Ohio, lived there for two years and never went back. I have been in Miami for the rest of my life and do not think I would ever leave here. Not so much because of the city, but because the weather is absolutely amazing. At the time of writing this recipe, it is mid-January, and I am wearing denim shorts and a tank top because it is 89 degrees outside. Yep, it is hot and I love it!
Well, as much as I love the heat, I often need something to cool me down. We make so many different drinks and desserts to help us cool down in this heat, but there is one thing we do not make often enough: key lime pie. We are huge fans of it, but when we make it, we want to get our limes from the Keys.
It is a long trek, but worth it. However, sometimes it is not possible, so instead, I have discovered this recipe which is so worth it and almost as good as limes from the Keys.
