Grandma’s Most Cherished Recipe!
Never a big fan of pie, I nearly missed my chance the last time this old-fashioned buttermilk pie went around at Christmas time with the family. My cousin, who loves to bake, was so proud of her newest accomplishment that she was practically jamming it down my throat. Finally, more out of annoyance than really wanting the pie, I took a piece and gave it a try.
Man o man was it good. I couldn’t believe that I almost passed this up. I asked my cousin where she got the recipe and she said she found it in her grandmother’s old recipe book.
I told her it was wonderful and the smile that spread across her face went from ear to ear…”I just knew you would like it!” She jotted down the recipe for me and I made it again a few weeks later for my husband’s birthday.
It was a great alternative to traditional birthday cake and a dessert we will be trying time and time again.
