Simple Homemade Meaty Meatballs

My Grandma held the recipe for the best meatballs on the planet. It took me about 20 years but I finally asked her for the recipe. It was so simple, I couldn’t believe it. The sauce is what I loved the most, so the first time that I made them, I concocted the sauce, and tried to add it to frozen, store-bought meatballs, mainly because I was short on time. What a mistake! The sauce was ruined and the dish was less than tasty.

The group I fed them to kept saying…”the sauce is good!” That was my cue. I will never cut corners and try and use store purchased frozen meatballs again.

These really are not that hard to put together, and after trying them, it’s worth the little bit of extra time and effort to experience the amazing flavor. I found a recipe that was similar on Serious Eats to what Grandma used to make and tried it out on my family.

Boy it’s just about as good! I’m glad I can add this to my recipe collection to be used again and again.
