Grandpa’s Mouthwatering Ham, Potato, and Cabbage Soup

Grandma and Grandpa definitely lived when money was tight and times were simple. They didn’t have all the fancy ingredients that we have today to make big, lavish meals in the kitchen. They had to work with what grew in the garden or what was raised on the farm. No doubt, that’s where this ham, potato, and cabbage soup came from. I still remember the first time I tried it.

I was a little unsure at that first bite, but then I went back for thirds and fourths! It was so much better than I could have ever imagined. When I was pregnant with my first boy, Grandma always used to call me and let me know when Grandpa was making cabbage, potato, and ham soup.

I would go over there and eat whatever they didn’t. When I found the same recipe on Recipe Lion I was thrilled. It tasted just like I remembered. My kids aren’t as crazy about it yet as I am…but they’ll get there.
