Aunt Jenny’s German Chocolate Layer Cake – Das ist Gut!

The other day I was going for a walk in my tiny town and I passed the local bakery window.

In the window was a large, round German chocolate cake that was pulled high with sticky frosting and mounds of coconut flakes. it looked amazing! I seriously wanted to run right into the bakery and snatch up a piece of that delicious cake for myself. However, I was on a walk and the point was to exercise and get into shape so I didn’t. Christmas is just around the corner so I resolved to make German chocolate cake for that special holiday meal.

This recipe looks simple enough to follow and I’m certain I can pull it off. After all, I’ve made far more difficult desserts in the past. Like that one time, I tried to bake a cake that looked like a 3D John Deere tractor. yeah, what on earth was I thinking?

I think I thought I was Buddy from cake Boss or something lol! Anyway, German chocolate cake has been one of my favorite recipes for quite some time and I think it’ll turn out nicely for Christmas dinner.

Quick Tip: I have used both sweetened and unsweetened coconut in this recipe and each tastes great.
