Your Husband Will Do The Dishes After You Make This

I have since made this for my kids and a group of their friends when they all showed up for dinner one night. Many of them had never had it before and gobbled it right up. I do like to process the diced tomatoes before adding them to the pan because my husband and kids don’t like chunks of tomatoes in their foods. It gives the same taste without the texture and nobody ever knows the difference. Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Group Recipes:

“This really is a husbands delight! I’ve been making this one for years. Easy, yummy and very satisfying for sure!!!”

Cheese, meat, noodles…you can’t go wrong with this combination for husband’s or picky little eaters!

Ingredients

10 ounces egg or macaroni noodles

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1 (14 1/2 ounce) can Hunt’s diced tomatoes in juice

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon Domino sugar

1 1/2 cups Daisy sour cream

1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/2 onion, chopped

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350. Bring large pot of slightly salted water to a

boil. Add pasta. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente.

Meanwhile, in large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef.

Add tomatoes and juice, salt and sugar. Simmer for 15 minutes.

In separate medium bowl, combine sour cream, cream cheese and onion.

Mix well. In 9 x 13″ baking dish, layer half of noodles, all meat

mixture and then all sour cream mixture. Top with remaining noodles.

Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Bake for 25 minutes. Makes 6 servings.

I’m pretty sure it was Sarcasm. My G/F & I cook together & do dishes together. Can you find fault with that? Sarcasm again, Rebecca

As any chef can tell you, cooked down tomatoes don’t taste as much like a tin can. As long as you reduce it down enough, you avoid almost all of that tinny taste… when using the other ones, ppl aren’t as likely to reduce it down as long and you’re left with the taste of the tin.

When you buy crushed or chopped canned tomatoes, you take a chance on not getting the most perfect tomato, buying whole canned is your best route to insure great tomatoes.

I make a similar dish. Instead of crushed/diced tomatoes do tomatoe sauce and add a jar of cheese wiz. Mix up cooked ground meat with sauce and cheese wiz and diced green pepper. Put cooked macaroni in 9×11 pan add sauce mix. Cool in oven for about 40 minutes. Delicious!!!

Mmm this dish is very delicious. My mother in law made it awhile ago, 13 years ago. But she called it “Lazy lasagna”

I have it by that name too, and they used spirals instead of Macaroni, because it was the only pasta they had in the house. It’s a really nice dish and makes a too simple dish much better while still being simple…

Really nice recipe that can.be tweeeked to each family’s “likes”. BUT it simply baffles me as to why adults are so FRICKIN’ NASTY and fault-finding with something as simple as sharing a RECIPE. This is a #@&^ up WORLD of SILLY INDIVIDUALS. Just sad as heck.

You are so right. I’m so tired of so much negativity. People are so serious these days. They need to enjoy life and RELAX!!

Really.
Make it; don’t make it.
Like it; don’t like it.
Eat it; don’t eat it.
Simple.
Keep nasty sarcasm in ur own
Kitchen. ?

Nice dish, I would season the meat with a hint of nutmeg maybe even some Oregano, or an Italian Herb mix, for more bang.

and since some readers have taken issue about the title (I am the husband) relax people, I get recipes from 50 year old cook books with much worse titles and comments than this title, and yes many relationships are still the “classic” one but I do not think there was anything meant by this articles title
enjoy the meal my wife and I did 🙂

I saw this in an Amish Cookbook and they called it husband’s delight. The tweaks I used: 1 finely chopped 1/2 lg onion in the cream cheese/sour cream mix as directed and coarsely chopped the other 1/2 into the burger while it was cooking, seasoned with garlic powder, a little salt, and pepper. I used a whole box of large elbow macaroni (16 ounces) and 2 cans of tomatoes (looked like one wasn’t going to be enough and I believe it would have been too dry with only 1 can). Adjusted sugar to 2 tbsp. 1 cup of shredded cheese was clearly NOT going to be enough, so I placed 9 slices of white american cheese on top then topped it with the 1 cup of shredded cheese. I baked it for 35 minutes before it was browned to my liking. It was SCRUMPTIOUS!! My boyfriend absolutely loved it too.

Can this be made in a slow cooker? My iven is not working proper and I’m afraid to try it for fear it burns!

I think that is a good idea and probably what I will do. I make crockpot lasagna and I mix it all together in the crockpot and it turns out really well.

I make one like that one the stove top a little more stewed tomatoes in lg skillet, serve with parmessan cheese on side & hot sauce

Do you drain the meat after browning or not? Recipe didn’t say. Some call for it to be drained and some assume you would drain anyway but some don’t need to be drained. ?

Thanks for sharing this recipe. Really sounds delicious – it must be because it has so many of my favorite foods in it. I love the idea of making foods that my husband will enjoy. This is my way of showing love to the person that means everything to me. No problem, no quid quo pro — JUST LOVE Thanks again for sharing your wonderful recipe.
