Harry is scared of any dessert that has something closely resembling to raisins. He is allergic to raisins. His lips always turned puffy whenever he accidentally ate raisins. And because raisins look like berries or chocolates when combined with bread, he is often victimized by them. Like for example chocolate chip cookies. There are times when we think they’re chocolate chips but when you bite into them, they’re actually raisin cookies.
It’s a simple mistake but actually an understandable one. I myself has been a victim for several times now. It’s the reason why Harry’s Mom, Aunt Vivian, makes these blueberry cake donuts for him and him alone.
It’s the only dessert that Harry will eat because he says he could only trust his Mom not to kill him, haha! Aunt Vivian’s donuts are really good though. They’re moist, has that fresh taste of blueberries but not too strong, and they taste good even when refrigerated.
I love eating her blueberry cake donuts with a generous spread of cream cheese and cup of warm tea. The recipe on the next page reminds me of Aunt Vivian and Harry, and how up to now, Harry trusts no one other than his mom to feed him.
