I Am SO Making This Cake Tonight
I wanted to make a cake for dessert, for my son’s birthday dinner. This year we invited our neighbors and some of our closest friends – plenty of people, so I needed a dessert that could be made ahead. I thought cake would be a great option, and it would be easy to serve, too.
Despite the vast amount of cake recipes I’ve collected over the years, I decided I needed something that I had never made before. Sometimes you just have to be brave and try something new, right?
I called my aunt Leah – she’s an enthusiastic baker and loves trying all kinds of new recipes. I asked if she had an old-fashioned cake recipe I could make for a party. I didn’t want a massive layered cake, just something super tasty and easy to make. She said she had the perfect thing for me.
Now, you could try all kinds of modern cake recipes but I guarantee none of them will come even close to this cake Leah shared. I think I’m going to make this for the next church potluck – or maybe I should make two, just so I’d have some leftovers to take home!
