Starting with my grandma’s generation, and maybe even further back, we grew up pretty poor. Well, I guess not poor, but we had just enough to get by. My Uncle John grew up the same way, and by the time he was a teenager, he knew that he didn’t want the cycle to continue with his family. Out of high school he got a job at the local factory, and worked his tail off to move up the ladder. After about fifteen years, he was in the highest position he could reach, and he was making pretty good money.
When Christmas came around, he told us all that he would take care of the meal. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were! We were also very grateful that he was sharing his success with his family. When we got to his house, we were hit with an amazing aroma that I had never smelled before.
What is that!?! Uncle John said, “Prime rib folks!” We had never had prime rib before. The slab he made was just like this recipe from Group Recipes. The flavor was one-of-a-kind and out of this world. We ate up that whole chunk of meat that very meal and left nothing behind. We couldn’t thank Uncle John enough for that amazing meal!
