I did of course make this for the next family event, only I doubled the batch. I knew the single recipe wasn’t going to be enough after I tried it myself. I was right! Everyone at the party really loved it. I offered several different items for dipping, and the whole bowl was cleared right out. It was disappointing not to have leftovers…but it’s quick and easy to make so I do it all the time now. Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Group Recipes:
“This stuff is killer. I’ve even put it inside my omelettes before. AMAZING!”
If you ever have any leftovers, they won’t be around for long!
Ingredients
one head of garlic, roasted
2 large yellow onions
4 tablespoons Land O’ Lakes butter
1/4 cup olive oil
dash of sugar
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
kosher or sea salt to taste, about 1 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon of your favorite fresh crushed pepper
4 ounces Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup Daisy sour cream
1/2 cup mayo
Instructions
Roast the garlic w/ olive oil, salt, and pepper by cutting the top off the garlic to expose the top of each clove. Sprinkle w/ olive oil, salt, and pepper and wrap tightly w/ foil. Roast for 45 minutes @ 350 degrees. Open and press the garlic out.
Slice the onions into medium thick rounds. Warm the butter and the oil and sauté the onions and add the cayenne, salt, and pepper on medium for about 10 minutes, then turn the heat to medium low and add a dash of sugar. The onions will caramelize and turn a yummy brown.
Mix the cream cheese, sour cream, and may together and beat until smooth. Add the onions and roasted garlic and SERVE!
