The last time I visited Mom and Dad, Mom told me a hilarious story about my niece who’s really growing to be a bit more mischievous by the day. She told me that my brother and his wife visited them while I was out of town. During that time, there was a bit of a commotion. Mom was hosting a little gathering with her friends/neighbors. It was a potluck.
She wasn’t expecting my brother and his family so she wasn’t able to prepare the dishes that my niece ate. When they arrived, the only food she could offer them that’s already at the table, were fried catfish. My niece doesn’t eat a lot of fish so she refused to eat a bite.
When my Mom volunteered to cook another, my brother refused to budge and told my niece that if she didn’t want to eat, then she would get no dinner. Mom still kept a plateful of fried catfish just in case my niece changed her mind and decided to eat. The little gathering happened without any more commotion.
My niece stayed in the room while my brother and his wife talked to the neighbors. When my Mom went back to get a few more servings of fried catfish, she noticed that the plate with the pieces were gone. The culprit was found out that night when my brother and his wife entered his old room where they were staying.
The empty plate was there. And my niece was sleeping with her face still full of oil from the fish. She was reprimanded when she woke up, but was forgiven in the end. Because who would refuse that angelic face?
