Steal The Show With These Finger-lickin’ Delicious Ribs!

I truly don’t know what to feel whenever someone proposes and the guests aren’t informed. Why? Because one, it kinda sucks when you are enjoying your food and then something happens that makes you abandon the food. And two, you are happy for the couple but at the same time irritated because they made you leave your meal, which is now cold. Kidding! Hahaha.

I just wanted an introduction to my story about a proposal and these grilled sweet ribs. We were having a barbecue at my friends’ backyard. It was a simple one and there were just about a dozen of us there.

So everyone was enjoying the food when suddenly, one of us screamed from the grill. It was the future bride-to-be. The future-husband-to-be deliberately left the ring box inside the unused grill knowing the bride would check that it wasn’t being used.

So my guy friend was laughing when he snatched the box from my girl friend’s hands and knelt down to recite his words of love and devotion. She accepted the proposal of course. And we were happy for them!

But I wished I didn’t have to abandon my juicy grilled sweet ribs. They were cold when I got back to them. They still tasted good though.

Quick Tip: Pork or beef ribs have a lot of connective tissue and need to be heated slowly over low heat to reach their full potential. The trick is to get a charcoal fire going, then move all the coals to one side of the grill and reduce the lower air flow to about 1/4 vent. Place the meat on the opposite side with the thinnest parts farthest away from the coals. Baste and flip every ten minutes, and in about an hour your ribs will be tender, tangy, and smoky.
