Stay Away From The Drive Thru With These Tasty Double Cheeseburgers

Whenever my husband has his buddies over to watch sports or work on vehicles in the garage, this is one of my go-to meals. In the summer time, I can pull out the grill and make a whole bunch all at the same time. Then, I assemble the burgers and take them out to them. There are no dishes or silverware required so they can fill up on something yummy and I’m not left with a sink load of cleanup! Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at The Pioneer Woman:

“This is truly a delightful little burger. I can’t make enough of them lately.”

These are big enough to fill you up but small enough to have with a nice side dish. Just make sure you smash your burger flat to cover the bun!

Ingredients

4 ounces, weight Ground Beef (roughly)

Salt To Taste

1 slice Kraft American Cheese

1 whole Hamburger Bun (small, Standard Size)

Instructions

Heat a griddle over medium-high to high heat. Divide beef in half and roll into rough balls. One at a time, place the beef on the griddle.

Place a large (non-slotted) spatula on top and use a coffee mug or large measuring cup to push the spatula and smash the patty very flat. Repeat with the other patty. Sprinkle them both with salt.

Cook them for 1 to 2 minutes, or until they’re nice and brown on the first side. Flip them over, wait 45 seconds, the place the slice of cheese on one of the patties.

Place the other patty on top of the cheese, give it 15 to 20 seconds to melt, then place directly on the bun.

Serve with ketchup, pickles, mustard, mayo, jalapeno slices, etc.
