Slow Cooker Swiss Steak: It Melts In Your Mouth!

I love making slow cooker food, even during the summer months. Most slow cooker meals are thought to be warm, comfort foods that are best enjoyed during the fall and winter with the hopes of warming up your belly. But you know what? I like to warm my belly during the summer, too. This slow cooker swiss steak does just that. it’s savory and delicious and very easy to make. All you do is toss everything in the pot.

My husband and kids love slow cooker meals such as this Swiss steak. I often serve it to them with mashed potatoes and green beans. You can use the sauce from the steak as a gravy over your taters. Dinner is served 🙂

Ingredients

1 can (14 ounce) Hunt’s petite diced tomatoes (double this if you like a lot of sauce)
1 teaspoon Heinz Worcestershire sauce
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 large yellow onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon McCormick dried thyme
1 + 1/2 pounds round steaks
sea salt and fresh black pepper
Gold Medal flour

Instructions

Mix tomatoes, Worcestershire, peppers, onion, garlic and thyme together in crock pot and season well with salt and pepper. Season each side of the steaks with salt and pepper and prick with a fork all over about an inch apart. {An optional step is to dredge the steaks with flour and sear in a frying pan with a tablespoon or two of oil over medium-high heat on each side.} Add to crock pot. Cook on high 4-5 hours or low 7-8. Serve with cooked rice, potatoes, or pasta.
