This is the perfect recipe for early holiday mornings and birthdays. My daughter has even requested this in place of a traditional birthday cake. It is so simple and affordable, I never hesitate to make the substitution for her. We can have it for breakfast, snack, or after dinner dessert, whatever fits our schedule for that day. Ingredients
FOR DOUGH
4 cups Gold Medal flour
1 egg
1 cup half/half
3 tsp Land O’ Lakes butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 TBSP yeast
FOR FILLING
8 oz Philidelphia cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
TOPPING-FILLING
4 TBSP melted butter – separated in half
1/2 cup brown sugar- separated in half
sprinkle of ground cinnamon
Instructions
Add dough ingredients to your bread machine according to manufacturers directions. Set on dough cycle.
Once dough is complete, split the dough into two equal pieces.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray/Grease an 8 in baking dish.
Spread one half of the dough on the bottom of the baking dish.
Spread with 2 TBSP of melted butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
In a mixing bowl, add cream cheese, powder sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Spread cream cheese mixture over brown sugar mixture.
Cover well with second piece of dough.
Spread with another 2 TBSP of melted butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
Bake 18-20 minutes or until brown.
Let it cool approx 10-15 minutes before slicing.
