My brother was in the military from the time he was 18 until he turned 28. Ten years he was over seas doing what he could to protect the country. So, when he came home for good, we were going to throw him a huge party. I corresponded with him through letters mostly during the time he was away. We talked about family, what was going on in our home town, and he wrote a lot about the things that he missed.
Surprisingly, one thing that came up a lot in his letters was food. There were things that he took for granted before he left as a teenager, and he knew when he came back as an adult man, he would never do that again.
Chicken wings were one food that he missed the most, so I knew those would be at his coming home party. I found a recipe on Group Recipes that sounded perfect for the occasion. He didn’t really like spicy, so I hoped he would like this version.
When he finally did get to come home to us, he couldn’t stop eating them. I make them for him now whenever he comes to my house to visit. He can’t get enough!
