Grandpa always worked the farm, and Grandma always ran the house. That was just the way things were back then. Whenever I would go to visit, I loved doing both. When it was time for Gramps to take care of the animals, I would follow him around watching every move he made. I always loved visiting with the little critters too. Even though they were farm animals, they were still pretty friendly. When he was done with the animals and started working on mechanics, that’s when I would head inside.
Grams was always in the kitchen just a working up a storm. She was used to feeding her own five kids, so I can imagine it was just part of her life at that point to cook all day. The day she made sourdough chicken fried chicken, like this recipe from Group Recipes, I fell in love with cooking.
It smelled amazing, at it looked really fun to make. When Grandpa came in we all sat down and ate. It was wonderful. I’m so glad I found this recipe because I was having trouble remembering the specifics. Now I can make it at home whenever I want!
