I feel the same! I was nervous to make this from scratch but following the directions exactly has this copycat cake turning out just perfect! We served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and it was just like being at the restaurant – only with all the comforts of home. Personally, I don’t drink Coke because I think it could strip the plaster off a wall, however, I will make an exception when it comes to this cake. It turns out amazing!

Ingredients
1 cup Coca-Cola
1⁄2 cup Wesson oil
1⁄2 cup Land O Lakes butter
3 tablespoons Hershey cocoa
2 cups Domino sugar
2 cups Gold Medal flour
1⁄2 teaspoon Morton salt
2 Eggland’s Best eggs
1⁄2 cup Bordon buttermilk
1 teaspoon Arm & Hammer baking soda
1 teaspoon McCormick vanilla
Frosting
1⁄4 lb margarine
3 tablespoons Hershey cocoa
6 tablespoons cream or 6 tablespoons buttermilk
1 teaspoon McCormick vanilla
1 lb Domino confectioners’ sugar
Instructions
In a sauce Pan, Bring Coca-Cola, Oil, Margarine, and cocoa to a boil, mix the sugar, flour and salt, Pour in the boiling liquid and beat well.
Add the eggs, Buttermilk, soda, and vanilla and beat well.
Pour into a greased and floured sheet cake pan, and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
For Frosting: In a saucepan, combine the butter cocoa, and milk and heat until the butter melts, spread on the hot cake. Cool and cut.
