My family has a thing for the dramatics—believe me when I say dramatics. This applies most especially to my aunts who are mostly housewives. My Mom has her moments, but she isn’t as theatrical as my aunts. Since most of them spend their days in the house alone, they tend to think about a lot of things. These things are comprised of the thoughts about life, relationships, about food, and about children and grandchildren. The relationship thoughts revolve around their relationship with their husbands.
Most of the time, they just complain about how their lives would have been more meaningful if their lives are not spent with their very uncaring husbands.
I heard Aunt Beth’s latest drama recently. I was there because I couldn’t resist the smell of the food. She was cooking potato pancakes for dinner appetizers while she was telling her sisters that she wanted out of the relationship. Her ever supportive sisters told her to go do it just because they knew she wouldn’t.
She kept talking about how she would love to finally have her life free from the burden of loving her husband. We all pretended to take her seriously while we kept nibbling on her really delicious pancakes, which were crunchy and moist at the same time. We must have emptied the rack for the fifth time when she finally exclaimed, “God, I need a vacation!”. When she noticed the empty rack, we were all far gone from the kitchen.

Quick Tip: They will keep in the refrigerator for several days and can be reheated in the microwave.
I am wondering if using instant potato flakes will work.
