Going over to my Aunt Sandy’s house when we were younger was always a real big treat. She planned special crafts and activities for us to do whenever we showed up. She was a single woman living on her own, so I think us being there was just as exciting for her as it was for us. We as kids gave her something to look forward to when we planned our visits.
One of my favorite things to do with her was cook. Mom didn’t really let us hang out in the kitchen with her, when she was in there it was to do a job. Aunt Sandy was a great cook too.
She made these chicken and dumplings that were so amazing, I asked if we could make them every time that we were there.
Granted, she didn’t let us do it every time, we still made them a lot. They were just like this recipe from Group Recipes. Old fashioned, simple, and delicious. I make these for my family too now, and I enjoy teaching my kids how to make them.
